If you are part owner, who's the main leaseholder? I don't understand.
It depends on who owns the freehold, piggy. I guess you and the other two own it in this case, and there is a management company in place, where you are the directors.

If so, then either you or your solicitor will have a copy of the lease.
Question Author
first of all you were right builder in your assumption.
secondly i havent got a solicitor, who normally does?
Yes our house in Brum is managed by a management company, and because i seem to have mislaid my copy of the lease, I was simply advised to open that link and fill in the form to obtain a new copy

Ok, that is an official Land Registry form for requesting copies of documents which are held by the Land Registry such as a lease. There is usually a fee.

Which bits of it aren't you sure on?

You will need your title number and the date of the lease, do you have that? If not then it may be a little more complicated.

Ignore the references to a key number and DX, these relate to conveyancers, legal advisors.

The nature of the document will be the type of document, eg Lease.

Section 7 has two parts as not all documents are noted on the title register held at the Land Registry. As a Lease is a fundamental title document, I anticipate it is on the title, especially as you have had a copy, albeit mislaid it.

These should help make general sense of the document but it there are bits you still don't understand then let me know.

Fees wise, they are here:

http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/18628/information-services-fees-2012.pdf

See OC2 for a copy of a lease - £23.

You will also need to know which Land Registry to send it to, do you know that? If not, do you have a copy of your title register which should tell you. There have been some changes over the years but you can double-check with the Land Registry, just ring your local one or the one you think it is and ask.

eve, thanx for going through all that trouble. I have to tell you i have no idea when it comes to things like title number. Lease date?is that when i bought the property? as for what land registry it is? looks like a few phone calls.
i'll take another look now, and get back to you.
Question Author
eve, 1+2, unknown, 3. my address, 4. fee paid, paid by cheque, 5. do i need to put down my email address +phone number?, 6?, 7. lease, number of copies, 1.
8.signature+todays date.
Ok, you will need your title number.

You should be able to find it and a copy of the title register from here:

http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/public/property-ownership

Just be careful you get the right title if there are freehold and leasehold titles.

The lease should be briefly described on the title register near the beginning.

If you put your email address (as well as your postal address) in they may be able to email you a copy - worth checking if they can.
Question Author
thanx eve, i've managed to buy a copy of the title number and the title register, it was done online for £3
