I just don't know whats going on with my son,he is very deep and tells me nothing,3 weeks ago he texted me and said he and his girlfriend of three and a half years have split(he wont tell me why)last week he handed in his notice at work,a great paying job ,his reasons is its to far away from Glasgow and he misses me and the dog,so he is unemployed as from the 23 sept.he has another part time job he can start at the high school(crap wages)but he says he just wants a break,he has been working non-stop since he left school at 17(he is 26 now)he is in Dundee at the moment but the lease ran out in the flat he was in and he cant find anywhere else to stay apart from hotels which is about£200 mon/thur.should I be worried about him ????

I'd try and talk to him, the obvious reason to me is the break up has knocked him for six. Maybe he didn't want it, maybe his way of dealing with it is cutting all ties and looking for a fresh start. All you can do is try to get him to open up to you.

Obviously you are worried as you are his mum. He is in a state of reorganising his life and you have to be there and support him as required. Hope it all works out for him as he wants.

I forgot to mention the only place he has to stay is a campsite so he is sleeping in a tent,he said its ok,and will just stay there til he finishes work.

I have tried to talk to him but he wont talk, but I will be there for him,he is coming home every weekend now, when he comes I hardly see him,he is drinking a lot, nightclubs every night.he is still going into work though
Bless him. Having a hard time. Did he usually enjoy the job, or do you think he's genuinely fed up with it and needing a new start? I think you'll have to wait until you can see him properly to find out what's happening x
oh poor thing, its very difficult kate if he is unwilling to talk to you. am I right in thinking you have another son ?would he be able to talk to him. he will be ok though , try noo worry.

I think it might be my fault as well ,son and I are very close, his brother who is my carer went to London 2 weeks ago, young one doesn't want me left on my own,i told him I am fine as long as he comes back at the weekend, does some bits for me and takes me shopping I will be fine,i think its because of my medical condition he is doing this as well.
looks like he wants a fresh start and does not want to stay in a place that will keep reminding him of the break up etc. wise man I think not to stay around feeling sorry for himself, you have brought him up well and I should not worry too much as he has made his own mind up and not said "what should I do mum", sounds like a mature adult to me, but he is probably in bits on the inside.
