Ok so i am a teenage female trying to do a man's job so please bare with me! But basically the handle of my window just came clean out one day when i was shutting it, i could put the handle in myself and lock it but now it won't even let me do that, i have spent all bloody night trying to work out why as the mechanism is working when the window isn't closed. Anyway I've now notice that at the bottom of the window the screw heads which are supposed to slide in the tracks when you turn the handle have lowered and so when the window is shut and I'm trying to lock it the screw heads are just banging the bottom of the tracks instead of sliding into it and locking. Can i fix this? And if so how?

"... teenage female ...please bare with me"

I'd love too, but I'm sure you really mean "bear with me" :(

Sorry I can't help with your problem LOL

Must of mistaken this site of peedo's for one where people used to actually answer your questions
Morning waterlocke - i'm sure The Builder will come along later and help you - just be patient. (There are some on here who like to police spelling and grammar.)
Those "keeps" that the screw heads are banging into, are usually adjustable. It's hard to say without seeing it, but I guess they've become loose, and moved.
See if there's a screw that holds the keep in place. If so, then loosen it and fiddle with it until it's in the right place.

The 'keeps' as you call them do have screws but I'm pretty certain its not those that have moved as i can't even undo the screws in them! They definitely are not loose at all! I'm so confused! I did take some pictures but can you upload them on here?
OK, so it's not that then :o(
No, you can't upload on here. Most people use something like photobucket, and give us a link.
The only thing I can think of from here, is that you're trying to close the window with the mechanism already in the closed position.

What I'm trying to say is, that you may have put the handle back on in the wrong position. You first need to make sure the mechanism is in the "window open" position. Maybe taking off the handle and putting it back on in the right position. Only then can you operate the mechanism properly.

When handle AND mechanism are both in the open position, only then will the sticky-outey bits line up with the keeps.

Hmm that had crossed my mind, i will have another try today and hopefully i can get the damn think working! Thanks for your help :)
You're welcome. I'm only sorry I can't offer more, but it's difficult without being there.
Good luck :o)
I hope you've got your window problem fixed, but I don't think there was any need to be rude to Canary. They were only pointing out a spelling error, and one which could embarass you at another time as it sounds as if you want to get naked. Could you accept this gracefully without being rude?
Question Author
If i wanted my spelling checked i would of turned my spell check on. Being naked doesn't embarrass me? This is a q and a not a school classroom Jesus christ do people have nothing better to with their lives than correct spellings on the Internet at five in the morning? I will accept it gracefully yes and i will also return it back to you ungracefully :)

Anyway back to why i was on here FOR ANSWERS, turns out my whole window has dropped a few mils how do i fix this :(
I guess you have friction hinges (the ones where the window stays where you put it without the need for a stay.)

If it's an old window, then the hinges might have lost some of their tension. It's usually best to replace them.
Is it top-hung?
