anyone help or have any idea.
for a time i have had a feeling of lump at the base of the throat, when lying down i can feel it, doing some gentle meditation exercises and when leaning forward it is a bit painful, neck looks slightly swollen round the right side down to the base of the throat. Also trouble swallowing food, have to do that slowly. The back of my neck is stiff and turning head is somewhat painful.

pain by the hairline right at the front.
sqad does say different.
And if you press your hand flat down on the top of your head, it doesn't hurt?
could be so many things, from trapped nerve in neck affecting facial nerves, infection, so lymph nodes are swollen, tonsillitis, sinuses, tooth infection...
My father in law had trouble eating some time ago and felt a lump in his throat, the doctor put it down to a hiatus hernia.
Thought you might, sqad! Fair enough;-)

back of neck painful, right down the spine into the coccyx, been like that for months, did see physio which was no use. have been referred to specialist.

i know this isn't helping, but head feels like it will explode, nose, and ears seem blocked, putting so much pressure. i have taken the antibiotics, but nothing so far, ears constantly sort of click, bridge of nose is painful and still same back of throat, gums hurt. so not going well. Overdrive anxiety, have sat for a time, but face feels on fire. sneezed only once today so don't know whether is acute sinusitis or anything. This is dire.
Em, you can't wait a week to see the GP. Ring your on-call service, ask them for a home visit, if you are in that much constant pain. The number will be on your GP practice's answerphone.
