I have decided after having Mia Farrow cuts for years and also hairdressers cutting part of my side of skin and losing blood off I am going to grow and grow and grow my own hair. My friends through cancer have lost their hair through no fault of their own so I am going to try to grow my own. I know "older" people don;'t suit long hair but I am going to give it a go. Never thought I would feel this way. But good luck to me says I.!!!!!

There's a wise Irish woman on AB jno?!!!! Name and shame her!
Emma Thompson's mother, whose name escapes me, long grey hair, beautiful.
Emma Thompson's mother is Phyllida Law, Scottish.
Phyllida Law, Gness.. Vanessa Redgrave as well...
Thanks Mark.
Welcome, gness.
And thanks Erin...it all depends on how you wear your long hair.
So she loses her hair through cancer treatment and you're going to grow yours?

That doesn't make sense...

My name on here is 'ummmm' lower case.
Craft (aka Rapunzel) has long hair and is...erm...somewhat past the age of 40......I believe
A near neighbour of mine is late seventies maybe early eighties, her hair is the palest silver, she wears it in a beautiful long plait and has what we used to call a 'donkey' fringe or 'bang' - she looks marvellous.
I said 'some' people.

Clearly 'some' do suit it, just not many imo.
It might be more supportive to shave your head Conn.
long hair on older ladies looks classy and amazing imho. Hate to see short hair on women as a matter of personal preference, but each to her own as it were:)
maidup - that's my confusion.

NOX - I don't like short hair either. A nice inbetween.
Conn. Grow your hair if you want to. If and when you decide to cut it again donate it for wigs for cancer patients to honour your friend. x
I still have long blonde hair and I'm 65 next month! I would not dream of having it cut I have had long hair since my mid-teens and in the 70s when fashion wigs were in fashion, I bought a short elfin style one just to see what I looked like with short hair, I hated it as did all my family and friends, it just doesn't suit me at all. I'm lucky though as my hair is only going a bit grey underneath and has kept very blonde on the top layer. I may colour it if it gets too grey though. I try to look after it well, I wash it every day and curl the ends with a hair styler. I don't agree that older people look old with long hair, some of my younger friends had the chop (OH calls it the MAC - "Middle Age Chop) in their 40s and now I think their hair styles are very old fashioned. Not being vain, I just really prefer long hair.
Best wishes to your poorly friend Conne .......... she must be very brave to lose her hair three times .
I am definately "older than old" I have grown my hair past my sholders so I can wear it "up" , its much easier to groom and quicker to get ready, should have done it years ago.
I'm trying to work out if my hair would be classed as long, I don't really consider it to be. Anyway, I don't really see that growing a hair is any sort of challenge that needs some good luck though, you don't really have to do anything.
