Lottery Cheque

Can someone settle an argument for me.
Someone is saying to me that one can take their lottery win cheque and lodge it in a bank abroad...I say you can`t,one has to deposit it their own bank in the UK and then transfer the money...

Old Geezer...it was just an hypothetical question ..but was talking about a few million win...I should be so lucky!!!

Are you sure those aren't just for photographic publicity - with the actual normal sized cheque for the bank being quietly handed over separately?

Certainly been the case with charity donation cheques I've been involved with.
Lol, - big cardboard ones too big to put in an envelope. I would suppose there would have to be an open account ready to take the cheque, and considering the state of our Euro banking in Greece, Spain etc. I would think to deposit in a financially stable country, if not here.
The cheque I saw, unfortunately not mine, was just a normal size and for just under 2 million.
