This has been discussed on here before but today's court appearance by this loathsome man has made me so angry :::

I have never, and will never support the death penalty. But if this horrible creature wants to take his own life, can't we give him a cup of hemlock and let him get on with it ?

He is still playing games with everybody, in the same way that he was nearly 50 years ago.

if they do they don't belong in any army.
can you quote cases where British soldiers have done this,
sorry em

that is a noble but naive view of the armed services and conflict

certainly when the attention of military chiefs is forced onto known cases (as with our troops and the americans in Iraq recently) military tribunals punish those convicted, but there are many other cases that go unpunished.

That is because those involved recognise the reality of putting people (even professional, trained people) into highly stressful situations of life and death.

Unarmed prisoners and civilians will get murdered. That is the recurring reality of armed conflicts.

This is probably the best known recent British case

I agree with krom on both points...

1- I don't care if Brady lives or dies.
2 - I don't believe you have to be insane to commit despicable acts. You may be insane, but you may also just be a despicable person.
em

this is a notable case from Iraq involving US troops massacring 24 men, women and children

in their defence they had just had a popular officer killed

zeuhl, those found guilty should be punished, jailed.
i still don't liken what soldiers do in war to what Brady did in peace, he along with Hindley killed 5 children, in cold blood, for the sheer pleasure of it. He said so, and already mentioned the transcripts tell you all you need to know about this despicable man.

And here's one from The Malayan Emergency in 1948

/In May 2012 the judicial review on the British government's position was held at the High Court in London. On 4 September 2012, High Court's judges in London upheld a government decision not to hold a public hearing into the killing.

The Court also ruled that Britain was responsible for the killing in Batang Kali. In its written judgement, it said, "There is evidence that supports a deliberate execution of the 24 civilians at Batang Kali."/

/I still don't liken what soldiers do in war to what Brady did in peace/

Neither do I

But you DID say that soldiers don't kill with malice, torture or gloat.

And clearly that is contrary to what we know of human nature and people's behaviours in the stress of armed conflict
how many do you wish to bring out, shouldn't we say the same for taliban who kill British people, behead those who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, workers caught up in the countries civil wars.
this is only about one man, he should rot in whichever institution they stick him in
Back to Brady

Hopefully, the authorities have now fulfilled their responsibilities in terms of hearings etc

and he can be locked up again and allowed to quietly rot without being brought to our attention any more
it won't happen because this is what he seems to thrive on, the notoriety.
/how many do you wish to bring out, shouldn't we say the same for taliban who kill British people/

NO

because you asked specifically for

/cases where British soldiers have done this/

Make your mind up where you want the goal posts moving to em LOL
/he seems to thrive on, the notoriety. /

indeed, i think you're right

that seems to be his nature - and it's a sad indictment of his life, that it is all he now has (or has ever had); notoriety based on 'recreationally' killing children
Brady should be locked up and left to rot. I don't think he'll starve himself to death. He looked pretty healthy to me to say he's being force fed, that is if the courtroom illustrations are accurate.
