Last year I paid £197 for house and contents insurance. This month I received a renewal quote of £245. Fair enough I thought...I am in the middle of a little claim so I expected it to increase.
Then I received another quote......£267 because the first had been an a computer error.
Bums I thought... but I have filled in so many forms this month and had to speak to so many people...being mugged is a pain..that I phoned up to accept....I could think again next year.
I'm chatty on the phone so by the time the lovely guy had heard my life story and experiences at the railway station today he offered to reduce it to £240.....and I hadn't got round to asking.
Is it always that easy to get a reduction or did he just want rid of me? :-)

I had a really high quote from Saga, been with them for years, I looked at the last few years and it had been steadily going up, latest quote was for £600+ so I looked for quotes, got one about £300 ish. So rang Saga. After a bit of discussion he quoted about £300, I asked for it in writing, got his name and waited, when it came it was £600+ again. Phoned again and said I wasn't happy and would be taking quote up from other company, he said don't do that, I will phone you back in ten minutes, he did, started me off as a new customer with a fantastic price £142 giving me insurance for all the same values including legal. He said they have to increase year on year. So the trick is to ask to be treated as a new customer.
