We've been having a discussion at work about that old Vic Reeves show which has thrown up a couple of questions.

There was a character with a bald head who wore a white doctor's jacket.

Question 1: Was he played by Matt (Little Britain) Lucas?

Question 2: The joke was that he was scared of chives and was attracted to something else (or possibly the other way around). What was the other thing?

Think it could have been, because they are old mates then he went on to be in shooting stars with them 'He's a baby, he's a baby'. Cant help with second question though
I'm not sure but I think it was a spirit level that he liked.
his name was les and he was not matt lucas, he was a lot thinner. i think matt lucas was being a character called cholmondley warner at the time.

Vic's lab assistant 'Les' was played by a guy called Fred Aylward not Matt Lucas. And he did indeed like sprirt levels.

I seem to recall that Matt Lucas didn't know Vic and Bob when Vic's Big Night Out was being cos Lucas later admitted he didn't like the programme. Think Bob Mortimer introduced himself aftet one of Matt Lucas stand up shows.

Goldenboy, If you mean Mr cholmondly warner off the Harry Enfield show (Women - know your limits), that definately wasn't Matt Lucas.
Wasn't the 'bald bloke in a doctor's jacket' Harry Hill?
It was not Matt Lucas but I couldn't say who it was, he was a big fan of the spirit level and sponsored (I think because his mouth was always open) by ExpellAir.

Hartley is bang on with Fred Aylward, whose only other imdb reference is to the spin off Les lives anyone seen that? Chives were too haphazard for Les but the spirit level restored order to his world.
Matt Lucas has a character called Sir Bernard Chumley that he has been reviving on and off for 13 years.

Mr Cholmondley-Warner (from the Harry Enfield series) was played by Jon Glover.

I saw Fred Aylward in a nightclub once - he was giving a really attractiv girl some serious motor-mouth, maybe about how 'famous' he was. It didn;t seem to impress her though, she left with someone else!

Cheers for your posts. Spirit levels...that was it. And now thinking about it, yeah - the guy was too thin to be Matt, even back then (when Matt wasn't as big as he is now).

I can sleep peacefully again now.
