Does anybody know the reason for washer dryer not to spin properly? my washing this morning was smothered with black mess all over my whites! suggestions please?

could it be the drive belt stretched/slipping giving black bits on the washing

Is that two problems, then. It's not spinning properly AND there is black stuff over clothes. Is the black stuff oily/greasy? Could a bearing have failed? This could explain not spinning properly and grease on clothes.
