How "The Bash Street Kids" have chnged over the years! See the cartoons in the Beano today compared to yesteryear.

Political correctness /health and safety has crept in! The teacher as we remember him from our childhood comic was a bit like Hitler but now there is a lady teacher and a coloured teacher - the children are different looking and Gnasher the dog who was so fierce looking back in the 50s/60s is now a dog who does "gentle gnashing" of teeth.

Bring back the old style we say! LOL

Where's Lord Snooty?
Question Author
He is there Sandy - look on my link, click on Retro Beano, then it gives tab options for each decade (takes a while to load) Lord Snooty is there in 1950s and 1960s.
Yep Minnie the minx in the beano and it was what my family called me. Bring back original teacher!
Question Author
Lord Snooty had a lot of common mates. Maybe he renounced his peerage to stand as a Labour MP during the time of the Wislon government.
Beezer and Beano for me. The Beano has changed a lot. The abundant gratuitous violence made it for me. I bought some of the old editions, sadly for rather more than 3d, just to revel in it :) There's a thriving market, far wider than the comic collectors, made by people who just want to relive their childhood. Sad really!
I've just seen Keyhole Kate in the Lord S strip. She might have went on to be a model in the 60s. She had the figure for it.

One 1950s comic on ebay for £35!
Snooty got off to a bad start before acquiring the common touch
