My 7yr old son is a fussy eater and unfortunately doesn't get any iron in his diet . I read that tofu is a good choice for iron and protein. Knowing the things my son will eat I thought he may try and even like this but I don't know much about the stuff and how to serve it. He is not keen on anything with too much flavour so if it is bland it would be okay.

that must be hard Barmaid. It can be so difficult can't it. eating out, on days out and holidays is the worst. :O/ Matthew has improved quite a bit since he was diagnosed particularly with coeliac and has been on gluten free food.
He has a healthy diet with lots of salad vegetables, fruit, dairy and bread, potatoes and pasta but he's missing iron in his diet. thankyou for the links. His dietician has suggested nuts and lentils too.
Kids will not allow themselves to starve - just don't offer alternatives and your child will eat eventually. End of story.
bloody hell, don't people actually read? Jenarry's son s diabetic - those people who are recommending to starve him until he eats are stupid, dangerous individuals.

Thankyou Bednobs. :O) It winds me up reading those comments but I try not to say anything. I would love to have the option of trying that tack but I don't .
The top 10 sources of iron are:

1 - Molluscs (Clams, Mussels, Oysters, Shrimp)
2 - Liver (Pork, Chicken, Turkey, Lamb, Beef)
3 - Squash and Pumpkin Seeds
4 - Nuts (Cashew, Pine, Hazelnut, Peanut, Almond)
5 - Beef and Lamb (Lean Tenderloin)
6 - Beans and Pulses (White Beans, Lentils)
7 - Whole Grains, Fortified Cereals, and Bran
8 - Dark Leafy Greens (Spinach, Swiss Chard)
9 - Dark Chocolate and Cocoa Powder
10 - Tofu

I have to say that I would never convince my children to eat tofu, so them that say stick it on a plate and be done with it should try giving children tofu for tea!
