Would you be so kind as to make a list of phrases or words that I can use in London(for every situation I would be in like for shopping, at the restaurant or at the hotel)? Thank you very much.‎

I bow to your superior knowledge dave :-)
mushroom is braver, or less shy, than I am. I've almost never started a conversation with a stranger on the underground; it's not a common occurrence in London, but if it does happen, it'll start with the weather :)
On a related topic, the humorist, Gerard Hoffnung, once suggested a few things for tourists to try: "Have you tried the famous echo in the Reading Room of the British Museum?", "When entering a bus, it is customary to shake hands with all the passengers" and that a building with a blue light outside is a brothel (It's a police station) were among them. All these are to be avoided.

An alternative is that all sentences should begin with and contain every few words the word 'like'
Oops -Sunny dave's post was supposed to be quoted there but it didn't work
regarding gerard hoffnung's tourist rules, victor lewis-smith invented a few new ones; if you can vault over the automatic barriers, you're entitled to free travel on the tube - and there was one involving a helium-filled inflatable lady and the last night of the proms........
