he came. he wasn't wanted. doubt he will be back. good result.
he came, was assaulted almost, jostled, pushed, is that customary behaviour, the report indicated it was mostly young students, shouting English out type comments, can you not see the irony that they are accusing him of racist behaviour because i can, and letters to the newspaper were from Scottish people appalled at their countryman's behaviour.

DTCwordfan...thanks for the clip ! I have seen many parodies of this scene and this is one of the best. The original film is well worth watching by the way.

The difficulty with parody and BNP-lite is that it is almost impossible to take the piss out of something that is already a parody in the first place. The way to defeat this dreadful clown and his rag-bag of swivel-eyed loons is in the election booth.

I seem to remember that when Griffin appeared on Question Time, there was a great fear that he and his even more ludicrous colleagues would gain some support at the next election. Instead they sunk without trace.
The irony in all this is the fact that some on here are quite prepared to support a Scottish Nationalist Party, but would swiftly condemn an English Nationalist Party.

Don't we already have an English National Party ?

1 Tory MP in Scotland and only 8 in Wales. Isn't it called The Conservative Party ? Not sure why we would need another one !
nungate // We're never confused Seadogg. //

You may not be but I am . I may be thick so please explain. You say you are in favour of the union but which union are you talking about . The UK union of Scotland, ENG,Wales and NI.or our union with the EU or both.
You describe Farages speeches as Bull.... but when I asked you what was
Bull.... about them you haven't answered.

I think what Nigel Farage omitted to realise is that Scotland does not have the same level of Euro-skepticism that we have in England. They do not have so much of a problem with 'immigration' and are not in the least interested in his slightly perverse agenda of appealing to the dimmer members of the right wing to glean the gallows votes of David Cameron's demise. Demonstration is alive and well in Scotland because they have their own divisive problem of whether to stay with the UK or not, THAT is what is important to them at the moment and for some little Englander to turn up there expecting a warm welcome is very foolish of him. Couple that with his total loss of the plot during his interview and his inability to cope with the stresses that a normal politician would be prepared for and thus more able to brush off and you can see what a frail leader he actually is and how ill equipped for the job he really is. I think UKIP's golden boy has just shown himself up for what he really is- a front room prime minister.

Appalling thuggish and hypocritical conduct but no surprise from the far-left.
I am for keeping the union with England, Wales and Northern Ireland, united we stand and all that. It is nonetheless true that we Scots have historically had a better relationship with our European neighbours, particularly with the French - in Scottish history lessons we hear about the "Auld Alliance" which goes back many centuries (not that I was taught much Scottish history when I was at school) However, I am against closer integration with Europe, as when I voted in the last referendum on Europe I believed I was voting for a trading bloc and not the United States of Europe with a German hegemony. As far as I am concerned Angela Merkel has succeeded where Hitler and the Kaiser failed in creating a Germany which dominates Europe. As for Farage and the rest of UKIP I put them on the same level as the SNP a one policy party, the break up of the UK and withdrawal from Europe. One of the best things ever done by the much disparaged Gordon Brown was to keep us (UK) out of the Eurozone, despite Blair's wishing to drag us into that mess
The behaviour of the audience says more about them than it says about Mr Farage or his politics.
a bunch of overheated numpties - you get them everywhere not just in Edinburgh!
