Words With Friends - Noobie Sort Of Question

My friend is playing this game with me but it's using up her phone time - I'm on my ipad using wifi.
Can anyone tell me if she can play with me on her laptop without joining Facebook, which she is reluctant to do.
I am well out of my depth with understanding the miracles of the www.

Not sure if that's possible, but why doesn't she join with a silly name, add you as a friend then she'll be able to join in. I've got an FB account as Rocky Racoon, you really don't need to give your real name.

Mmm I suggested that, told her not to add any friends other than me and set privacy highest on everything.

I play Scrabble with my brother on Facebook but he refuses to have me as a 'friend'. As rocky says she can set up an account with her dog's name - my cat Princess Merlin has her own account. I play Scrabble with her too.

Ah, so she doesn't even need to have me as a 'friend', Wolfy? She can just ask to play with me but not 'friend' me?
I'll be your friend on there if your cat doesn't play very well.
