I have a guy who works for me who is rather than ask what work he can do he prefers to sit there reading news websites and not working. How can I adjust the settings on his pc to block his viewing of this and other websites?

..mmm....you are surely a different boss to any I ever had...my last boss's solution would have been...

1. Verbal warning...
2. Written warning...
3. Red Card.......

............wake up david.......time for action ....commoner ;-)

..........BTW, unless he needs the Internet for work then just remove the modem.

He does need to use the internet for work - !
can i ask where you're posting from? is it the office next to me?
I was thinking the same thing shazbang but my boss has been involved with the internet since before it began.

There are various software packages you can get but best and cheapest thing would be to produce an internet usage policy which states that sites not used for work purposes are off limits and add a clause to say that any abuse of that is gross misconduct.

HAHA WoWo,

I'm commiting gross misconduct Right Now!!!

just tell him you have put a timer and site log thing on his pc and you will total up the hours he is on a site that is not related to work and you will deduct that from his pay

say you have requested it from the server or something

sack him. or do what my school has done they have this thing where if you got on a games site etc it comes up with a pictture of a policeman saying PC Rawlins says HALT!
No seriously have windows XP first make him a limited account if you haven't already done so, you do this in the the user accounts section in control panel. Then if your using internet explorer go Tools>internet options>sercurity>restricted sites>sites then just type in urls you want blocked
Try the same thing parents use to stop there children going to some websites.
