Financial help for recovering alcoholics?

My partner has been in detox since Monday and is doing extremely well. He has been off work on sick leave since late October 2005 and has only been receiving basic pay (normally he gets a performance related pay on top) which is leaving him about 500 down each month. Obviously as he is still employed he cannot claim any benefits that I know of and still has to pay the normal amount for bills etc. Does anyone know of any financial assistance available to him such as a charity? Many thanks in advance.

Hello gemmabe, good luck to your husband. I think you'll find it difficult, if not impossible to get any financial help other than a personal loan to tied you over.

This is the problem with any performance related paid job. You don't say what your husband's salary is, but if it's the minimum legal wage or higher then that is what you'll have to live on until he returns to work.

Maybe you could contact whoever you owe money too and explain the situation, and ask If you could defer payments for a couple of months or so.
