Quite often I see "Articles For Sale" notices on bulletin boards with the seller's phone number listed numerous times vertically at the bottom of the notice, separated by slits so that people can detach them. I want to make one: how do I get the numbers vertical? I am using Windows XP and Microsoft Word.

Easiest way is probably to put a table at the bottom of the page with a column for each complete phone number and a row for each digit of the phone number.

Thanks for your response, Kevink; however, I don't understand what you mean.
in word, a very basic way is to type in the first digit of the code, hit space 3 or 4 times and type it again and so on till you have filled the line, then repeat on the second line with the second digit and the same spacing

like this
3 3 3 3 3 3 3
7 7 7 7 7 7 7

and so on. In the example I hit space 5 times between each digit
I think AB took out my extra spaces, word won't
I think you can buy perforated sheets like this, but they're a rip off ;-)

Answerprancer, can I buy carbon-paper at the same store?:)
On the home page of excel 2010, type in the letters/numbers you want to use.Highlight them and then click on the arrow next to 'ab' (written at a slant, below review), this will drop down a menu and then click on what you want, vertical, clockwise sloping etc.

Thanks for your responses, I appreciate it. RATTER15, that looks like a straight forward link: I'll try it.
Click insert – table – insert table – number of columns 12 – number of rows 1 - OK
Place cursor in a cell click Layout and change height to 3.5 cms or whatever you want but a mobile number font 14 fits nicely into this.
Place cursor in first cell - right click and select text direction - select the direction you want.
Now highlight the rest of the cells and select the text direction again.( Don’t know why it won’t let me select text direction for all the cells at once)
Now you can type your telephone number in.
