I am useless in the garden and don't really know flowers very well. What are your favourite smelling flowers?
I do have an ulterior motive for this question - I'm still looking for a perfume that smells like the aroma I smelt when walking through the gardens of Hever Castle several years ago. I know there is a perfume or maybe even a body lotion or deodorant, as I've smelt it since then when people have walked past me. I've spent loads of time in Boots and perfume shops smelling perfumes but nothing comes close.
One of the lovliest scents is Daphne, very strong and around March time. Then there's honeysuckle which is divine in May or June (depending on the honeysuckle).
Hever Castle has a website with a page of photographs of some of their flowers in different seasons. Why not have a look and see if anything jogs your memory.
Definitely Daphne, and so early in the year as well. For cut flowers Freesia and in the garden the wonderful Lavender. Oh and Honeysuckle and Iceburg Roses and ..........
Maybe it was just a mixture of different flower scents. I can still remember the smell of all the different flowers that had been left outside St James Palace when Princess Diana died. I`m not sure that smell has ever been replicated in a perfume because perfumes tend to be based on one or two flowers
I did once Sara, and they said Vera Wang, Princess. Went to Boots to check it out and it didn't seem like the same smell. I waited till the sample card lost some of its pungency but it still wasn't the same one. May have been someone else in the vacinity.
I was once in a garden and somebody mentioned a lovely flower smell and there was nothing round about; it was my perfume. Check it out, Dahlia Noir by Givenchy.
