I know this should be in Twitching - but I was just overawed by the number of Kites I saw when I was in Wales this week.

This is a bit of (rather wonky) video I took with my happy-snappy camera when they were feeding the Red Kites at the Bwlch Nant yr Arian centre (the pictures get better about 30 seconds into the clip).

There were around 80 or 90 Kites there - an amazing sight.

lol Gness. You saying they are lazy reminds me of my daft sister. Every time a Kite appears above my parents she dashes out to find her little cat. I don't know how many times I've told her that they are NOT going to eat her kitty cat!!!
gness: familiarity and contempt, I guess!
And, they can make one hell of a mess on a freshly-cleaned car, or washing!
Thats a pretty impressive video clip, dave. To think that they were all but extinct, not all that long ago...
Barmaid...they are so lazy ours have the number of the local takeaway. x

Ginge...peg the washing well. Kites have been known to swoop and take washing....some people are finding their smalls at the top of trees. It's good luck if they poop on you.....my daughter came across an unexpected starling roost while driving. Stopped the car and got out to film it. Arrived home with her car and new coat covered in bird poo......but happy and..lucky? Well I'm her mum so how lucky is that!?
As I type I have my first flock of Goldfinches in my garden!
