Before cars had power steering?
A while back I went for a drive in a friend's landrover. I couldn't move my arms for days.

MrAsk always folds his wing mirrors in when parking on a busy road and even in the supermarket carpark. Thing is I have to remind him to unfold them.
I learned to drive in a car without power steering and, on passing test, got a brand new company car smack on the day the reg plates changed - August I think - with power steering

the delivery company parked it tight, in a very small parking space and I did 3k of innocent damage before I'd set a wheel on the road

Chilldoubt //What's so special about leccy mirrors//

We live in a narrow country lane, when we lock the car up the mirrors automatically fold back, when we unlock the doors they automatically open out again, so very very useful.

Oh well, I must be lucky 'cos they don't need re-adjusting on my car, nor did they on the Renault I hired a couple of years back in France.
I'm guessing we're at a slight misunderstanding when bookbinder said leccy mirrors he/she meant the fold-back housing, not the actual mirrors themselves.

C'est la vie!
