Hi all - While importing all my mp3's into MP10, i noticed that some of the albums in Album View were wrong, ie MP10 would create 2 entries with the same album name, but one of the album entries (in Library in left hand side) only had like 1 or 2 songs with the rest in the other entry. I can only assume this is something to do with the way that MP10 reads the id3 tags. My question is this:- How can i configure it to read ID3v2 tags rather than ID3v1 or vice versa? Also, can i browse my Library in MP10 using folder names, or do i have to create a custome view somehow? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks. PM

Media Player checks the internet based data bases for the album you're putting in its library. Sometimes it will find the album but not all of the tracks on the album so it puts those tracks that it finds into the album it finds and those tracks that aren't found it leaves in the album you created. The best thing to do is in the album library window on MP drag the album you don't want to the album you do want to merge them.

I don't think you can browse the MP library using folder names.

It could be that some information is missing from the songs. If the Album Artist is filled in you get 2 entries in the album, one with the album artist in brackets.

To sort out all your tags, I recommend looking at a good freeware program from http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/ called The Godfather. It can set all your v1 tags to be the same as the v2 tags as well as bulk rename your files based on the tag info and bucket loads more.
Can't help you with WMP folder viewing yet, sorry!

WMP10 is a bit funny with tags (mispelled albums/artists, multiple greatest hits artists), but you can drack and drop files in the media library window and it renames the files with the album/artist you've dragged to. Also you can highlight large amounts of tracks, right click and advance tag edit all the details at once.

In the end i prefer to use two different filing systems

I have my folder system for finding tracks to upload to mp3 player and my media player (connected to my stereos & Surround sound) for playing tracks throughout the house.
