All over my garden, we were mystified by a strange 'weed' that was popping all over the place until we pulled a few up and discovered that they were peanut plants!

Just in front of their hind legs, pehaps.:-)

Truth is that they bury them anywhere and then forget where they put them. Hence the reason for strange plants/shrubs/trees mysteriously appearing in gardens.

Sorry, didn't abandon you guys. Just got very busy with work.

My guess is they eat frozen nuts in the winter months.
