I have always thought that his real name was Robert Monk, although on his recent "This Is Your Life" he (and his family) were only ever referred to as "Monkhouse". So it must be Monk or Monkhouse, but probably not Monastery.

Yup. He was Bob Monk. His family made custard powder for a living.[ Insert Monkhouse 'joke' about being or' being warm, sweet and all over tarts,' or such ].He added the 'house' bit to suggest he wasn't still living in digs.The original thought that he was 'Monastery is as absurd as thinking that Bruce Forsyth was ever Mr Entertainment.
