Does anyone else remember that miserable feeling when Sing Something Simple came onto the radio at 7pm on a Sunday evening after the top 20 chart show? I always associated it with the fact that it was nearly time to get ready for bed as it was school the next morning.

Sunday wasn't a day for enjoyment in Belfast when I was a child. They even locked the swings and roundabouts in the park so the kids couldn't play.
I remember that well Sandy, going up to Ballysillan Park in all innocence to try and have a bit of fun, and there were all the swings locked up. Jumping on the seesaw would have tipped the balance toward satanists.
I absolutely loathed that miserable dirge of Sing Something Simple. My parents loved it; it turned my stomach.
