Ok then guys and dolls, Say two blokes got married and one of them slept with another person causing divorce why cant they call it aldultery but they can for man and woman relationships. If they want marriage to be equal for all types of couples why is adultery only for heterosexual couples.

dave50 - Well I wouldn't expect to hear Elton calling David 'my lady'.
Not a lot I should imagine sloopy.
/if someone refers to my wife as my 'partner', I correct them. /

as you should dave

if they are people who don't know you they may be being cautious until it's confirmed that you are married and what gender your 'partner' is

it avoids 'the curse of assumptions'
^ no, no my what happens post was to sir.p

what happens next if nay35 and nay37 really are the same person?

If another one shows up will it be "Nay, nay, and thrice nay"
craft - your originality is tops!

humbersloop - It's not our concern. It's the Ed's decision.
your past incarnation says otherwise doc
Just to go back to zeuhl's earlier point

//However, adultery will be a permitted grounds for divorce if it follows sexual intercourse between one of the couple and someone of the opposite sex//

that seems like a ridiculous state of legislation to get to - surely it can't be that difficult to find a definition?
Probably commonly termed as cheating. Simple really.
humber true

the devil is in the detail

say a gay married couple's 'sexual intercourse' is mutual masturbation (be they two men or two women)

Is mutual masturbation with another party grounds for adultery

Shades of Bill Clinton and whether a blow j0b is 'having sex'

They will need to find a definition of sexual intimacy/intercourse that both constitutes consummation of a marriage and adultery.
I didn't doubt you zeuhl, it's just plain daft though - and it did remind me of clinton.

So, for future gay marriages that break down, potentially back to earlier times when someone had to slope of for a paid for one night stand to provide evidence of "adultery" for divorce?
good point humber i hadn't thought of that aspect

"yes your honour i went off and had sex with that woman (wink wink)"
