Apparently our wise and trusted Premier has only just discovered that Foreigners are taking advantage of our NHS, but at the moment we are not 'tough enough' right now to prevent them from doing so.

/// Speaking to workers at B&Q in Eastleigh, Mr Cameron said the health service should not be free for foreigners from outside the EU. Britain must also get better at charging other EU countries when their citizens use the NHS, he added. ///

All very well him saying that, but isn't it him who holds the power to put an end to such things, I wonder why he hasn't already?

I wonder why he had popped into B&Q?

/// Mr Cameron this week launched a review into how foreigners access benefits. On a visit to support the Conservative Eastleigh by-election campaign, he said this review will look at all welfare payments and services, including health, housing and legal aid as well as traditional benefits. ///

Yes but I bet the foreigners will not be at the top of the list of cuts, it will be aimed at the less fortunate amongst our own citizens.

Em, a lot of things can get done, all it takes, "Sorry We have enough" It is not the Governments that this is effecting but the population of this small Island, some argue, OH but the work harder, that is a load of bull SHT & people know it, what they are trying to do is go backwards with the Sweat shop days, " Pound land" does that ring a bell? I had an enquiry about a cruise, an American Comp, They said that the service charge is so & so, I asked how do you make that out, to make up the staff wage they said, my answer, If you can not afford to pay your staff, sell the ship, but that's another storey, but I think you can get the jest of it?

I don't rely on rubbish stats from right wing rags.

I read a bit further.

I'm not the only one. Full fact has quite a large readship.

SP, I have worked within the NHS, my Daughter is a matron in the NHS, It would open your eyes to know what the some of the Immigrants go in for, Asprin, Tampax ( I am not joking) Plasters, I myself worked with persons that had L.D. with total respect to the persons with L.D. they want to be looking into the benifits that these people get, & before I get slagged by a few!!! I DO KNOW THE FACTS, as some on here that have done the job will also know.
but I think you can get the jest of it?

I didn't get any of it. It was a bit random.
whilst you seem intent on one source, i have posted from it, just one snippet, it does quote the mail but also migration watch,

I can't read anymore Em for obvious reasons.
not obvious, but no worries.
Interesting letter in tomorrow's BMJ from Hanefield, Smith et al from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
They have done a comprehensive research project examining the effects of UK medical tourism on the NHS, and they find that the UK is a net exporter of patients -more UK residents travel abroad for treatment than international patients travel to the UK to access treatment, both private and NHS (contrary to some popular media reports.)
And while numbers of international private foreign patients was small at 6%, they were responsible for the 35% of total private income in those trusts.
The full report when it is published will be interesting.
No link as it's still behind a paywall.
That's an Ozzie saying " but no worries" Am I right?
@slaney sounds an interesting article. Think we have a subscription account somewhere around here - will take a look.

Hoorah - so you see how impartial fullfact is!

Now you know why I trust it with the figures from Pulse, rather than the nonsense from right wing rags.

Would love to read on, but am off to down a few then see the new Die Hard movie.

Enjoy your Friday!!!
slaney, whilst that may well be true, suggest that wherever ones goes you would have to pay for your treatment, unless someone can tell me otherwise. I have heard of British people going to India for dental treatment, as its cost effective to do so, but they still pay for flights, accommodation and treatment.

Nope - none us know 'the facts'.

We just have opinions based on tiny bits of information.

Really have to dash now - booze calling.
sp, impartial perhaps, but it has to be paid for somehow, website, staff etc, don't they ask for donations sure i could see that on the site someplace.
and the part i posted on was about child benefit, which i am hoping you actually read right through
