My next door neighbours are a family of alchoholic tone deaf ,karaoke singing ,football fans, that all have to shout every conversation. They all sleep very heavily after their parties that proceed into the small hours too! Therefore making it impossible to wake them up in retaliation. Both of our houses are privately owned rendering the council powerless ,and the police are a waste of time, also i don't want to lose value on my house by having to go through legal channels!!!Thanks all.

I have exactly the same problem and from time to time, I play Classic FM loudly in my conservatory, which sometimes sends them indoors. Try it and good luck
I have EXACTLY the same problem. Their noise levels from music and shouting are not really HUGE, but well above that which decent people would use. Our little back garden is very green and private and it used to be a haven of peace and quiet and now these flaming incomers are ALWAYS out in the garden, their cigarette and BBQ smoke wafting through the hedge, their conversations held at shouting levels, to save them from getting of their fat backsides to walk into to kitchen. e.g. "Hey... Bring us aht me fags, willyer!" They regularly have gangs of friends around getting pissed through the day and night and shouting ever louder...! I'm close to considering poisoning the buggers. However, I sometimes leave CLASSIC FM on, quite loud, in my conservatory (not so loud as to cause a nuisance, but loud enough for them to hear it in their garden) in the vain hope that they'll realise that there are OTHER people living in and sharing this space. Sometimes, just sometimes, they go into the house. Their teenagers especially don't like a bit of Debussy, or Beethoven. I find Shostakovich is especially good... Just a glimmer of hope to offer, but you're not alone with this problem. I'm looking for a high-pitched cat-scarer device that I can amplify and point their way. This is getting ridiculous, isn't it... I'm a quiet law-abiding citizen, but their total lack of respect for others is driving me towards a lfe of crime!
These irresponsible, selfish, nasty, ignorant, noisy, thick dragged up idiots only understand one thing and that is, a bigger dose of their own medicine.

Calling the Police is a waste of time. They are useless in most everything now, other than pulling over speeders.

Calling the Council is a waste of time too, as they will want you to keep a diary of incidents lasting for months and then it's only your word against the offenders.
Then the Council will want to install a noise monitor, probably for just two days as it is always in great demand.
You probably will not get enough information to take the matter any further and if you do it will then have to go to Court, in order to get a noise abatement order.
If the offender turns up they will have an array of excuses about how they suffer from depression and have various other ailments and how they were abused as a child etc etc.
If they are a foreigner, police and Council will do even less for you as the Foreign persons will use their culture and not understanding English Law as an excuse. (Note: they are usually more clued up on English Law then you are. They get full legal aid for any type of dispute, you will have to pay if you are employed.)

A fact now is that the Police and Councils will bend over backwards for foreign people and do the absolute minimum for white British born and bred. White British people are now suffering from a form of reverse racism, a fact of multicultural Britain.
Our Councils, Housing, private Housing and Police have been infiltrated with foreigners who sympathize with other foreigners. And the white British who work for them, are frightened of being excused of Racism too. So to prevent this, they bend over backwards to help foreigners.

A year or two will easily pass by and nothing has changed at all except that matters or worse and have even deteriorated to intimidation and violence. So what can you do?
Move out, is the best option, especially if you can afford to. Unfortunately most of us have not got this option. So for those who can't just move out, I would advise a Battle plan. Install your own CCTV, buy a big loud Dog or Dogs or borrow Dogs from friends or have your friends with Dogs visit you often. Dogs are great for noise in Flats as they playfully fight and run around and there's nothing the Police can do about that.
Rally your friends together to support you and visit you to witness the noise and later call them to give evidence if necessary.
Trip up regular through the night on the way to the Toilet, falling heavily on the floor (only good if you live in upstairs Flat) Send the Police to them every time their noise upsets you. This wont do much good but it will irritate them every time you do it and stress them like they do to you. Also it will annoy the Police and as 75% of their time is taken up with attending noise issues, they will strive to get stronger powers to deal with this.

Of course there are plenty of other sinister things you can do but I will leave this to your own imagination.

These horrible nasty inconsiderate neighbours can be the death of you, through stress and anxiety. You will constantly feel frustrated and depressed unless you fight back.

Good luck and remember what causes all these problems is voting in the wrong Political parties. Cons. Labor, lib. are useless. Vote in political parties that will fight this issue and save your rights.
