Is this the one?

We'll sing a song, a soldier's song,
With cheering rousing chorus,
As round our blazing fires we throng,
The starry heavens o'er us;
Impatient for the coming fight,
And as we wait the morning's light,
Here in the silence of the night,
We'll chant a soldier's song.

Chorus:
Soldiers are we , whose lives are pledged to Ireland;
Some have come from a land beyond the wave.
Sworn to be free, No more our ancient sire land
Shall shelter the despot or the slave.
Tonight we man the gap of danger
In Erin's cause, come woe or weal
'Mid cannons' roar and rifles peal,
We'll chant a soldier's song.

Thanks maggiebee - from another Scots Maggie - love the logo !
Why do they have two anthems? - maybe that is what the 3 home nations should have, the National Anthem, followed by the regional one. England should take Jerusalem or Land of Hope and Glory....
Always consider "Flower of Scotland" as our National Anthem
Love Flower of Scotland
There's only one National anthem: 'Ireland's Call' by Phil Coulter is the rugby anthem played at all games. Amhran na bhfiann, the National Anthem of the 26 counties is only played at games in the Republic now
maggie - you are not a nation - quite yet.

I think the English should have their own country anthem.....keep the National Anthem for the GB teams......it's also pretty uninspiring apart from that version that they have at the Last Night of the Proms.

Sorry DTC, Scotland has always been a nation and always will be. Flower of Scotland was played at the rugby match yesterday at Murrayfield when Scotland beat Italy!

Maggiebee is right,DTCfan - she took the words right out of my mouth! Our king became your king - not the other way round remember!!!!
With all due respect to both of you, I think you should look at the Act of Union in 1707. They were two separate countries with the same monarch to that point.
Surely the RUGBY song Ireland's Call is sung as some of the players and fans from Northern Ireland do/will not stand for the Irish National Anthem, sad that politics has to come into every sport.
I am not a sports fan but I do love hearing all those voices singing ALL the Anthems. Good luck to them all and my the best team win.
