I'm here instead.
It's very peculiar that it has been snowing all day here, very lightly, but the snow that's on the ground is thawing. Our patio in now just a wet, sloppy mess. How can it be snowing and thawing?

bright sun here now...must be warming up....can still snow and be warmer..
Ours is too, tilly - it snowed overnight, and is melting, but there are still bits coming out of the sky.

PS Weather is a subsection of Chatterbank these days....!

Thank you, sibton but I meant the weather section in the topics list. I know how to find the weather pages on the web.

How come you didn't leave a message? Are you not speaking to me?

Thank you boxy. I can see it now.
An inch or so of snow overnight, now you can almost see it melting away, quite disappointing, as we got the shopping done yesterday so were all set for a day or three at home.
Tilly, dearest, apologies, the cold is getting to me I'm trying to persuade myself to go upstairs and take the contents of 3 wardrobes to the charity shop, if I can drag myself away from here
Baldric, there was 2.5 ins on my car this morning in the centre of town, but the shops are full of food again today!
^ and PS, we are warned to look out for more tomorrow!
It's probably because of a white-out condition over there, tilly..........
Hi boxy, yeh we probably had a similar amount, but most of it blows straight past us at this end of the bay.

I forgive you, sibton. I know you've had a lot of snow over your way.
Although you've now located the weather section, this tip might help in future:

To see all of AB's subsections, click on the word 'Topics', near to the top left of your page.
>>>How can it be snowing and thawing?

It's the temperature of the clouds which determined whether it will snow or not - but it's the temperature at ground level which determines whether snow will thaw. As anyone who has ever been up a mountain will know, it gets colder the higher up you go.

Thank you, Buenchico. That is so obvious. I feel stupid for asking now. I know it gets colder the higher you go. I should have thought it through.
