Need to get an indoor thermostat for the central heating.

current one is a very basic honeywell with just a manual dial on the front.
It has two wires blue and brown, earth isnt connected

All I want to do is to be able to set the differential, so theres a smaller temp drop between reaching set temp, going off and kicking back in a gain.

Dont need any fancy timers facilities etc, and if its digital preferably not a green display.

had a look around but the ones I've looked at dont make it clear if differential can be set, if they do its not in plain english I can understand
Any suggestions

Did you look at this one, Baz?

Do you need help understanding how TPI works?

HI did actually, Honeywell was the first site I visited but a lot of what it says and does means nothing.
I just want to set a temp say of 20 and then say 19 for when it comes back on
so a 1 degree C differential in this case, plain and simple, not bothered about timers etc.

At the moment Mrs Baz is the most accurate thermostat in the house ! soon as it hits temp turns off and starts dropping she notices it, have to say it does seem to get a tad chilly before it kicks back in again.

surely there must be a thermostat where you can set the differential in say half/whole degree increments

Just had a look at the online manual
1. Set Temp...so far so good
2. Temp inquiry ????....given up already...what does that mean ?

does do what I want it to do, the plain and simple way ?
Baz..I assume you have an old 230v stat with as you describe 2 wires. These will be feed and return wires..both can be live.To swap for a new 230v stat and to achieve a small differential you may need a neutral conductor and certainly an earth. With newer boilers the stat is generally at extra low voltage and only requires a 2 wire system.
Question Author
Couldnt tell you, but what i do know is that there is an earth wire inside the stat but its not connected to anything

boiler is a combi about 12/13 years old and will churn out 80,000BTU

Sounds like its just easier to turn the temp up to start with
