How Often Do You Clean Behind The Sofa?!

I only pull my sofa out about once a month to hoover as I need help to move it.

Sister in law tells me she does her's every week, made me feel like a right dirty 'article' - maybe I am??!!

What do you do?

Sofas are one thing. What about wardrobes ? Whoever is going to empty those out, move them and vacuum ? The dust is there, but out of reach.

Silliemillie - you should come visit and see the state of this place. The kids won't let me throw stuff out (and it is accumulating at an alarming rate). There is Lego everywhere (including in the second bath room, the garage, the kitchen windowsill). I have a soft toy mountain but I don't know what to do with it (there's nothing wrong with it, there's just too much of it). Even though I've chucked so much out, in two weeks there will be even bloody more of the stuff. It's like living in a dusty toy shop.

I Hoover behind the sofa once a year, just before Christmas, in case we move the furniture round to accommodate everyone. Same with the inside windows..once a year whether they need it or not. I clean the oven once every five years or so (that's a lie, I just did it for the first time, had it ten years). I clean when I feel like it or when things start looking mucky, not because 'they should be cleaned once a week' .
I don't care what people think, or how often others do their cleaning. It's my house, it's acceptable to me, it looks clean and cared for, people come to see me not to inspect my dust.

Sherrard - its defo a trip to the charity shop for you, do it when the children are at school, bet they dont even notice, if you do it when they're in its always 'i want to keep that'

It wasn't down to my mum, it was my mums boyfriend who made us do it.

We had to clean out the kitchen cupboards every other day as well, and on top of them every Saturday. Plus loads of other jobs so we only had time for housework and school homework. Nasty man.

I only hacked it a year and left.
