my grandson left his shoes at school after playing an after school sport, they couldnt be found the next day but found two days later and put in a cupboard "where none of the children go because they know they arent allowed" i go to get them and was told that they have now gone missing, and cant be found anywhere, i ask the school to reimburse me and was told "no" and that he should be held responsible for looking after them, fair enough but they were found and now gone missing again, do you think they school should pay for them? bearing in mind that they were clarks so not cheap?

**SCHOOL**
No. A lot if my kid's stuff got pinched at school, if they were to reimburse everyone they'd be skint.
Yes, the school are responsible for your child and his activities while on their premises so they should pay up for their negligence.
If they recovered the, told you they were there, and they've given them to someone else, yes it's their responsibility, IMO
No I don't.
He lost them in the first place so you wouldn't have expected the school to pay then.
My son did sports day one year and when he went to get changed afterwards his entire uniform was missing! Last year his coat vanished from his peg. The school cant do a thing.

as i said if he had lost them and they couldnt be found te fair enough i wouldnt expect them to pay but they were found by a teacher and put in a safe place only for them to go missing again, so they were responsible for them
Canary - if a child forgets to bring shoes home the school is responsible not the parents?
If I was the school and I had "a cupboard where the children aren't allowed" and things were going missing from it, I would be worried. Is the cupboard locked? I think that once it had been acknowledged that a representative of the school had taken the shoes into their care, then they become responsible for the safekeeping of those shoes.....but different from a child leaving stuff lying around or stuff being nicked from a public area of the school like a cloakroom or corridor.

which is my point
what have the school said to that argument?
