Recently I was assaulted by another woman. I was slapped hard across the face once and hit twice across the back of my head. The woman was charged and she I together with some witnesses were brought to the police station.

Whilst I gave my statement one of the witness a male who I did not know beforehand claimed that my assailant had also hit him across his face.
I did not know that he had made this allegation up, but I was so angry that I let him do it and did not tell the police otherwise, and I did not think that it mattered that I had omitted his claim from my own statement because as far as I was concerned my assailant was a thug and deserved it.

Anyway eventually the court case happened and on the day the assailant pleaded guilty to slapping me once but not guilty to hitting the male witness. The judge then dropped the male witness charge and gave my assailant a conditional discharge with a £40 fine for compensation.

My question is, was a punishment enough, considering that technically the assailant had beat me?

Would it have been more if I hadn’t stupidly let the make witness claim he had also been hit

Eddie: I think you'll find that a while after the record is spent it does disappear. I've had two policemen and a female teache who confided that in thier twenties they had commited a "minor" crime which they decided to confess too when the CRB check came through. To thier amazement they discovered it had long since disappeared. So I'm not convinced that she'll never be able to work in the fields you'd outlayed.
An assault WILL remain on your enhanced CRB check for ever.
Some other crimes ( minor theft, deception, misconduct etc) may be removed after several years and if they were committed as a youth , but a crime of violence will NEVER be removed from an enhanced CRB check.
You still have not told us about what led up to this assault, and it is relevant to the question about 'if it was punishment enough'

Can I presume you know this because you yourself have had a criminal record and have tried to get work with the vulnerable?
I have an enhanced CRB check and I work in care homes and schools as well as other places. Insults are not nessesary.
I still think the OP has chosen an "interesting" user name, especially now the insults have started......

Eddie: I'm NOT insulting you. All I'm saying is that I can't get any solance from what you say because I have three examples of that not being correct. One primary school teacher I know, was done for assualt at 20years old, when she joined teaching ten years later they did an enhanced CRB check and there was NOTHING. So I'm not sure how or why you're so certain. Thats all I'm saying.
Sounds to me just like a drunken cat fight, but what do I know?
Here is a chart that shows what is included on the different levels of disclosure (CRB CHECK)
http://www.criminalre...b.htm#disclosurechart
As you can see an enhanced disclosure includes everything even information held but not acted on.
.

what, you think the judge should have slapped him ?
