When you double click on your internet connection monitor icon at the bottom right of windows it says Bytes you have received eg:15,000,000 and then Bytes sent 5,000,000 What the &^%! is being uploaded from my machine in vast quantities? I wondered if it was just parity checking data but how do I know its not Microsoft sucking up all my personal data logs etc ? Ive looked everywhere for an answer but it remains a mystery that no one seems to be concerned with. Not that im paranoid! By the way I have ZoneAlarm

I wondered the same thing, asked a mate who's a bit techie. He may be b/sing me, but he reckoned the remote server is "handshaking" with your machine, checking that whatever you've downloaded [mail, files, whatever] had arrived ok & wasn't corrupted/scrambled, bits missing etc
Handshaking? sounds more like they're having a dam' good shaggin' session. :-)
