Daughter is going into new flat next term which she excitedly described as 'Shabby Chic'

Is this this a euphamism for 'Midden' or have student flats evolved since my day?

Shabby chic is a design style using deliberately worn and deteriorated items to achieve an elegant overall effect. It is particularly popular in interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their age and signs of wear and tear or new items are distressed to look old.

The term was coined by interior designer Rachel Ashwell who founded a company by that name.

So...ideal for students!!
