Yet another story from the Middle Ages, how many more of these unfortunate young women must die in such horrific circumstances before these evil practices are wiped out in 21st century Britain?

Exactly the point I was making in my Times link question, which strangely you and others chose to sweep under the carpet.

Wow, that a long time in the wilderness.
<which strangely you and others chose to sweep under the carpet>

How would i do that?

I think it's a little 'creative' of you to interpret that people not being engaged enough to post on a thread as 'sweeping under the carpet'

If so, there must be hundreds of threads on here you have swept under the carpet this week

"the news of this only broke late yesterday"

It most certainly did not! The story first broke at 14:25 yesterday afternoon.

And please don't blame me for your name being dragged into the thread. I purposely did not name anyone.

I've just read something you've posted, and need to get some clarity on what you mean:

"But I am not prepared to see medieval and uncivilised practices such as this introduced into this country, in exchange for a few Curry Houses on our High Streets."

Are you saying that the only benefit that our Asian population bring to the country is a few curry houses?

Seriously?
Quite, sp1814. Aog forgot to add 'and 'corner shops', which would be closed but for 'Asians' (or 'other communities' if you will).

Don't quite the maths in this. One family with deranged beliefs kills someone. And aog thinks he'd rather go without his chicken tikka masala anywhere in the country because of it? He needn't worry. Indian restaurants are Bangladeshi. This family is Pakistani. Hang on , this is 'yet another story'. Right, well the maths still don't justify refusing curry houses, even if with every story he's read being counted in and they all involve Bangladeshis..
^'get' the maths^

This is not about one family killing a young woman, there have been several in the past few years. And not only Asians, there was a case a while back where African children were being butchered for some macabre practise, for 'magical purposes'. We should not even be in a position to read about those terrible crimes. Why are they here? Education on the rights of women and guidelines of what is expected of them once they enter Britain and the penalties should be made very clear.
Islam appears to date from about 600 years after Christ. They have plenty of time to catch up...

Christianity in its 2000 years has done vile things - Islam doesn't burn witches at the stake ....
like this, only 450 years ago

"There were many women during the 17th century that were tried and executed as witches. The last great witch hunt was in 1660 and between 1661 and 1663 saw 9 women from Forfar being executed as being witches. All of these women were accused by Helen Guthrie.
Helen Guthrie was and evil woman, who killed her own half sister when they were children.
Helen and her friends soon got a reputation for dancing drunkenly in the churchyard at midnight. She became a "supergrass" when she assisted in the witch hunt campaign by giving evidence against her friends.
In 1663 Helen Guthrie was a self confessed murderer and witch thus leading to her being tried and executed. In Scottish Tradition, Helen was strangled and her body was burned to ashes in a barrel of tar.
Helen had a 13 year old daughter, Janet, who was also accused of witchcraft.
To this day, the fate of Helen's daughter is still unknown, but she was still imprisoned in tolbooth in 1666 without a trial."
and if you want to talk about family honour - there's at least one case where a young Catholic boy had to go to the IRA commander to be shot in the knees for courting a Protestant girl. not 400 years ago, and not in bangladesh...
When did Christians stop believing in possession by devils? That family still does.
Jesus himself was presented with a man who was given to self- harming and had been chained up, but kept escaping. Not only was this man possessed by devils, but Jesus spoke to them and told them to leave, they struck a bargain that they go to possess some pigs neaby, this they did, and the possessed pigs promptly rushed off over a hill and drowned in a lake. ( "The Gadarene Swine" told of in Mark ch 5)
