paralympics closing ceremony - bugs!

sorry for the delay - i forgot to ask this question!
During the closing ceremony, when they cut back to the studio, there were live bugs crawling around the desk. No-one mentioned them! I wondered if anyone had explained what they were, before I'd tuned in.
It's been really bugging me!

I remember someone did enquire and the presenter said they were a design on the table, not live bugs
