How can you tell if it's bone or muscle that's causing the pain?

Clinically (by clinical examination) it is very difficult if not impossible.

They may well be combined.......the muscle protecting a bone disorder.

X-Ray of the affected area, might well answer the question.

Thanks Sqad have appointment to see a physiotherapist wondered if he/she would be able to tell or will it have to be an X-ray
