Am thinking of buying a mountain bike but not sure on whats the best for price. looking at spending £200. had a look at halfords but they look a bit cheap and not to well made. any help in makes and what to look for will be of help, second hand is an option too.

To be honest, you're not going to get a lot of mountain bike for £200 unless you go second hand.
1/2 decent mtb start at 450 quid, it also depends what you want for yr money. rear+front shocks, aluminium frame, good make, eg trek aren´t cheap, not to mention cannondale.
Yes I have to say, £200 won't buy much. They can cost thousands. Even second hand it is likely to have taken a battering. Don't forget that any parts on a previously expensive mountain bike you buy second hand will probably cost more than the £200 your budget allowed for the bike.
