does brown and black go together?

I am going to a works party at a posh hotel next week I've got a really nice chocolate halter neck top to wear with bronze jewelled effect on the top. Last time I wore it was with jeans but the dress code at hotel is smart, can I wear it with black trousers or is that major fashion faux pas? :-) Looked around for a pair of trousers to go with it but cant find any decent ones any advice? Please dont say wear something else because this is the nicest top I've got and I just dont have anything else suitable xx

I personally wouldn't wear brown with black. Why not wear it with a pair of dressy brown trousers? I've seen loads in the shops and online.

I wear black and brown together but I team it up with some colourful jewellery or a scarf. Or get a jazzy belt to break up the colours.

i think you'll be fine with brown and black. i think if you buy something else now you wont be as comfy in it as you would in your trousers. as long as they are dressy trousers worn with heels or sandles, you'll be cool for cats. have fun!

I think a beige/ turquoise (seriously, it works) skirt would be best, perhaps something boho-y if you want a surefire style that suits everyone. Cowboy boots are the best shoes to wear, but anything strappy would also work.

Thanks for your advice, 'fraid I dont do skirts so I'll look round for beige pair of trousers if notmy trusty black trousers will be putting in an appearance!!! after a ferw bevvies I doubt I'll care much anyway!! Thanks everyone thats replied xxxxxxxx
