There have been enough of these stories, in recent years, for people to be wise to the tactics these con-artists use.

I feel very sorry for the lady concerned but can't help feeling that she should have been more more guarded in her actions.

what I cannot understand is ..... after sending the first payment and not getting any of the money back as promised why they then send the next lot ?and the next lot ? how long does it take for alarm bells to ring ? the minute they introduce a tragedy for the reason they cant meet surely you woould check the story out its so much easier now theres internet. Silly, silly woman.

I agree - but it seems, like many of life's tragedies, it's another case of thinking it only happens to someone else. Very sad.
