The Savoy is good but a tad expensive
Depends how much you want to spend.
I've been to Claridge's recently which was fantastic but expensive at £38 per person.
This is the 2012 winner at £28.50 per head...

Hi Mazie
Noooo nooo noooo, theres only one place to go for afternoon tea and that is The Ritz, it costs a fair bit but its The Ritz !

Anywhere apart from the Ritz ! Never understood the attraction of this place for tea. Brown's is good though. It used to be a place where you just turned up unannounced; still is , if you don't mind not sitting in their tea room; but they prefer you to book. The link above offers 25 per cent off there now. Claridge's is ignored by Londoners; it is not a place which you'd instantly think of for lunch or tea; but is certain to be good for tea, and you probably get their tame harpist playing, as at lunch!
With the Olympics on, you'll find that lots of good hotels and restaurants are quiet. There's nobody around in central London.

Its called having class,! you either have it or you dont
Have to agree with Baz - tea at the Ritz is a very special experience.
Also agree with the Ritz, don't know if it's the best but it's the only one that matters. A great experience.
BROWNS - best kept secret in town.
Claridges. And they bring you extra helpings if you want them. You need to book quite a while in advance though (but not as far in advance as the Ritz)
Ah well, I can't have got class, then. LOL. I've never taken tea at the Ritz when I've been staying there, let alone passing by. It just looks too busy and fussed somehow.
You can try at The Ritz Hotel in London. It is famous to provide best afternoon tea at responsible prices. For more info you can visit book-afternoon-tea.com

if you choose Harrods you will have to book also for some of the others mentioned.
The Berkeley, The Lanesboorough Hotel and The Langham Hotel all offer wonderful afternoon tea. Fortnum and Mason's is also very good as is Harrods. The Ritz is probably the best known but I have never tried that one as yet. My favourite was the Langham Hotel. The room it is served in is stunning.
