Ok, I know I should probably bin them, but I've got a set of knives that have developed rust spots. Does anyone know how to treat these or are they untreatable?

If the rust is only on the surface then you can rub them down either on an oilstone or with very fine wet and dry sandpaper. Once the rust is removed then keep them lightly oiled and it won't happen again.
