I've become the Queen of Quick dinners lately
We've just had liver, bacon ,onions ,green beans and ......
instant ready done mash from Morrisons from the chiller cabinet ..
It was quite tasty actually and cost a quid .I doctored it up with a bit of butter and pepper and a dash of cream ,nutmeg .Even Mr S said it was nice and he's a mash expert :)
I felt a bit guilty really but with just the two of us to feed now I can't be bothered to peel a coupole of spuds to mash up and it was enough for two .
I have never ever bought ready done mash in my life before ...
Should I feel guilty ? Or am I after all these years of mashing spuds just being lazy :)

Just started doing the same as there's only two of us, daupinoise and parmentier potatoes as well. A bag of potatoes goes bad too quickly.
I often use instant if I am make cornbeef hash for me - so don't worry about it.
Hi Shaney, you are not lazy, just taking advantage of convenience foods. You kept it unique and it went down well. Good for you !
Neither Trish or I are big potato eaters and we have the same problem with bags, so we often use ready mashed or if new potatoes are available we use a local shop that sells them loose so we can just buy what we need.

We do tend to eat a lot of new spuds this time of year too but of course you can make these go further ,frieds spuds the next day etc ... but liver is not the same without mash !
Glad I'm not alone in using convenience foods :)
Use the time you save to do something of value!

Lol..Mazie ..that's true ..I've spent most of the day musing the Spectator ...solved now after the penny dropped .
No wonder I have no time to mash spuds ...xxxx

I'll be getting Wiltshire Farm Foods to deliver soon at this rate :)
and getting the Prince of Wales in to make your organic biscuits for you. Might as well keep him occupied, I suppose
I've had the kids down for 3 weeks and I just feel if I have to cook another meal..I'll die from food exhaustion :o(

He'd take one look at my kitchen and take his organic biscuits elsewhere :)

I know the feeling Mazie ..for us two it's easy and we're not fussy but when a child turns up then it's a roast or something and they sure know the difference between home made yorkies and shop bought.
Then you do feel guilty :)
Tell me about it shaney...I'm up to my elbows in Yorkies and Dumplings, pastries, pies and all sorts of cakes at the minute. The good news is they are off home next week... I'll be sorry to see them go, I really will but..Phew, no more extreme cooking for a little while
I don't have too much of a problem with the lazy mash, allthough I have never tried it. But the liver is quite another matter !

My Mum made us eat liver in the 60's and 70's, because "it was good for us" apparently but I always hated it. Now I am 59 I don't have to eat any more and I am very pleased with that !

Same goes for sprouts.
I am the princess of idle cookery when there are more interesting things to do....marks mash is delicious, much better than mine!
