For just a few things, not a big shop. Suddenly there was loads of shouting and screaming. A couple with a baby and a toddler were fighting in the aisle. Two male assistants tried to separate them. When everything had calmed down (or so I thought) the woman took a swing at one of the assistants. He went down like a sack of potatoes. You do see life where I live. As I was leaving the shop two police cars and an ambulance turned up. Just thought I'd share.

They price match a lot with Tesco, and overall I think my weekly shop works out about the same. I prefer Waitrose own products to Tescos and if you spend more than £50 delivery is free, whereas on a weekend Tesco delivery can be as much as £6.
Waitrose sell up-market stuff like quails eggs and pheasant (when in season) I think that's why they appear to be expensive. I love Aldi, but now that I have moved the nearest one is ten miles away. So have to stick with Tesco or Budgens, they are the ones I can walk to. Where I used to live it was a regular occurrence for the police to arrive and search the house across the road, but here it is very quiet. Don't know which is best, the excitement or the peace.

Call me pernicky (is that a word) I like to choose my own things. I always look for the latest sell by dates. People I know who get on-line shopping tell me the sell by dates are not good.
Pernickety
If you order something from Waitrose and the only ones they have have a short life they send you it for free..................

Star. Have you joined the spelling police, Or are you MR in disguise. JOKE

Craft that is good service.
Jeza - No, I felt a bit pernickety!!

Craft. Tesco always tell you if something has a short life and if they put in a substitute they charge you the same price even if it is much dearer. I have had a couple of good bargains like this.
SB Waitrose do same price substitutions as well, except on fresh meat. I actually ordered a Xmas cake for the daughter and they didn't have the one I wanted. They sent a Duchy Original one for the same price which was actually more than £5 dearer................I thought it was crap.
I saw a couple arguing in Lidl the security guy asked them to turn the noise down and they both turned on him ! he called the police and I really couldnt stay and gawp anymore in case they picked on me !
