It looks increasingly like Government Policy is being made on the hoof. The postponment of the 3p rise in fuel duty took many by surprise, including the Cabinet by the looks of it.

Even Cameron was talking down any chance of a postponment.

Perhaps you haven't noticed, Modeller, but Labour have been out of power for over two years. Given that Cameron and Osborne are making that same point, perhaps THEY haven't noticed either!
Has it suddenly crept up on them out of the blue? Did nobody tell them? Was it a good idea to hand the poor, wretched Chloe Smith - who only learned about the change an hour or two earlier and had no financial nous anyway - on a platter to Paxman, whilst they scuttled off and hid?
