Teacher Present for a Man

My eldest is finishing primary school at the end of the week and he has had his current (male) teacher for 2 and a half years.

He had done a lot for my son and I really appreciate the extra effort he goes to - he runs after school clubs and before school chess and lunchtime chess. He is a nice guy. I would say mid twenties, married to another teacher, trendy (uses hair straighteners!!). Generally at end of year and Christmas I have given him a couple/a few bottles of beer or a bottle of wine.

As this is the last gift i wanted to get something a bit better but stuck for ideas - nothing too personal obviously and nothing that is just tat.

He seems to like sport but no clue what in particular.

Any ideas?

lol 2 short - that'd be funny - maybe a nice book and a funny one. I think he said once that he loved reading when he discovered Dickens, but my boy only likes modern fiction, none of us have ever managed to get him to read anything "old" not even the famous five or anything when he was younger. Doesn't seem to have done him any harm though as he reads at the level of a 15 years old (my son that is, I hope the teacher reads above that level ;))

I wonder if I could get a really nice hardback of the Hobbit or something?

Actually cazz that reminds me , the boy still has a £20 one left from Christmas that he hasn't spent yet - he could donate it.

Lot's of options now :o)
