How common is it for people to have a 30th birthday party. I didn't have one for my 18th or 21st so was thinking about one for my 30th but they don't seem too common

I had one. I have been to many 30th birthday parties. I guess it depends on the person, not everyone likes parties.
Many 30 year olds are too knackered to party, with young babies.
My sister had one...great party. I've never had one, not my thing.
I celebrated my 18th, not bothered since, I hate being the focus of attention at parties etc!
Surely you can have a party for any birthday you want. If you want to throw a party then do it. As far as I know there are no laws to say you can only do things other people do. Oh and Happy birthday.
If you want a party, have a party :) Celebrate your birthday how you want, especially if it means something more special to you.

I went out for a nice meal with friends for mine, saying that I usually do for birthdays but it felt a bit more special for my 30th.

I know a few people who have celebrated their 30th with more significance, just done something a bit more special than usual.
Go for it girl! In "the old days" (!) we never celebrated the 'o' birthdays, but if you want to, it sounds fun. I am 75 this autumn and am wondering whether to have a party. Should probably wait till I'm 80, but that seems SUCH a long way off.....
I think they're very common, we've been to a fair few, seems to be the thing these days to have a big bash for your 30th, a bit like a 21st used to be.
Any excuse for a party is good as far as I am concerned.
