Seeing how Britain doesn't have an Empire any more, aren't these honours now out of date?

Would 'C' for Commonwealth make more sense? Or something else...?

is it a bit of slow news day in SP world ? No gay/race stories to moan about? revert to the ever reliable British bashing stories eh? Well done your anti British lefty mates will love you!
I'm sure this has been discussed before. The honours were created when the Empire existed weren't they ? Then why change them, they're supposed to be tradition. If you want change then the honour system needs a much bigger overhaul than a few letters. It's all pretty meaningless at present. Given to folk who were just doing their job, or apparently to those who contribute to political party funds, or are popular celebs.
mike.....Not only can I remember Empire Day before it was changed to Commonwealth day...I can remember the outbreak of WW2.

Anyway I have looked-up the meaning of 'Empire' and come to the conclusion that AB is such.......An aggregate of peoples and territories under the rule of a single person

Come on Ed, when are you going to dish out a few 'gongs'?.:-)

Ron.
Better to drop them altogether. A class ridden structure it would be hard to emulate. If it has to be kept then call everyone 'sir'. Without a knighthood I am usually given this title every time I visit the GO store and elsewhere.
